Affinity Designer Windows Beta Now Live
Affinity Designer
A few posts ago I featured Affinity Designer, illustration software and Photoshop/Illustrator replacement, as a great alternative to those on a budget. Upon opening the program and messing around with a few different tools, it’s easy to tell why the software has gained a tremendous amount of popularity in the Mac world.
For a while their was talks of a soon to come windows version for those who either don’t own a Mac or require cross compatibility. Well the wait is over.
Affinity On Windows
The live beta has opened up on Affinity’s site allowing users to sign up and gain early access for free at the moment. The live video on the main Windows Beta page showcases the power of the design software and everything that is capable with it. Sign-up is easy and quick allowing you to test out Affinity for a while for free. It has been confirmed that once the beta is over users will have to pay the standard $50 fee to download the complete version of the software and yes, even if you purchased a license for your Mac you will have to purchase it again for windows.
By the end of 2016 Affinity will have a full suite of design software that is easily affordable. This will include Affinity designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher. Publisher will be an alternative to InDesign and should be in open beta by the end of 2016. Another great function of this design suite is that it supports PSD file imports. This makes it easy for users to either transition over or even work through both.
The most important thing to know/remember is that after purchase the Affinity Suite will have “free updates” for the lifespan of each software. Get started by clicking the link/photo above!
Happy Designing.
