Publishing Software
Publishing

We are nearly done with this topic and then we move on to other topics of design and coding! (I swear only one more post like this)

Adobe InDesign is a rough software to get to know, but once you can find your way around it, it is a great software for digital printing and publishing. It is best used for layout design for magazines, labels, posters, flyers as well designing the layouts of books. It would be hard to replace a software like this but like all the programs in this list, there are alternatives! Here are two great digital publishing software replacements for Indesign!

Scribus

Publishing Software
Scribus

Scribus has been around for quite some time. It is an Open Source and cross platform digital publishing software. Scribus has been used across the industry for things such as magazines, books and manuals. This is a powerful and useful publishing software for designers as it can do most the things InDesign can. Scribus is available for Mac, Linux and Windows allowing users to work completely cross platform on their projects.

Pages

Publishing Software
Pages

Pages for Mac is a powerful publishing software that comes on hand with any Mac. Pages is more geared towards book, magazine and template design. (InDesign also focuses on text design) If it doesn’t come stocked with your Mac, Pages is easily affordable for $19.99 making it a great affordable alternative. Furthermore, you can take your work on the road as Pages syncs up with both your Mac and iOS devices!

Have a different favorite or even a different technique for designing templates? Post it in the comments!
